Frequently Asked Questions
How can I register for youth classes?
Registration for our youth classes opens in late April for the fall and October for the spring. You can sign up directly on our website under the ‘Conservatory>Registration section.
We offer registration to current students first. These classes sell out very quickly so please be don’t wait!
What is the age range for the Jr. Companies?
The Jr. Companies are designed for students aged 9-12. If your child is 11 or 12 and has never done a show before we suggest doing Jr. Company before Young or Teen as this is a less rigorous process and a good way to ease on in to doing a full production!
Are there any prerequisites for joining the Teen Companies?
Yes, the Teen Companies are invite-only and typically require prior participation in the young company. This ensures that students are prepared for the advanced level of commitment and skill development expected in this group.
How can I support Center Theater Company?
There are several ways to support us, including volunteering, attending our shows, and signing up for our newsletter. Your involvement helps us continue to offer enriching theater experiences to the community.
Where can I find information about upcoming shows?
Details about our upcoming shows are available on our website under the ‘Productions’ section. We regularly update this page with new information, so be sure to check back often!
Are these ticketed events?
Yes! All our company productions are ticketed events. Tickets range from $15-$25 and make it possible for us to do these fully realized productions.
Do families get complimentary tickets to the show?
No. At this time families do not get complimentary tickets to the shows.
What other costs are associated with being in a company production?
Parents are in charge or supplying the following.
- Proper under layers for students. We don’t have private dressing rooms for everyone so we require base layers so students feel comfortable changing in front of each other. We will send out information about the base layers we need.
- Shoes needed for the show.
- Anything that goes on a head (wig, hat, etc.)
If the total cost for parents (minus the base layer) is over $100 CTC will cover the additional cost.
Am I allowed at rehearsal?
We do not allow parents at any rehearsals for CTC shows. Having family at any rehearsal greatly iimpedes the childs growth as they are constantly aware someone is watching them. Plus, it makes the final product less of a surprise!!!
How does casting work?
Casting is a very difficult process and the CTC team is very thoughtful and thorough about this process.
What is your refund policy?
Refund Policy
My child doesn't like their role in the show, can we get a refund?
CTC is built on the values of teamwork, collaboration, and supporting one another—both in class and on stage. Being part of a production is about more than just the final performance; it’s about embracing the process, learning, and growing together.
If this approach doesn’t align with your expectations, you are welcome to withdraw from the class. However, please note that refunds will not be issued, and future participation in CTC classes may be reconsidered. We encourage all students and families to appreciate the journey and the community that makes theater so special!
How do I get in the teen company?
Our most advanced performance group, Teen Company is invite-only or by audition. Young Company members may be invited to move up, and new students can audition for a spot. This group is made up of highly dedicated performers, and we strive to maintain that level of commitment, professionalism, and passion for the craft!
What can my child do to improve?
We strongly recommend supplementing your theater training with piano, voice, and dance lessons to become a well-rounded performer.
- Piano improves your ear, helps with reading music, and allows you to learn songs independently.
- Voice lessons refine your vocal technique and strengthen your instrument.
- Singing regularly, especially in groups, helps train your ear and builds confidence in using your voice.
- Dance increases body awareness and is a crucial skill for any performer. Most professionals start in the ensemble, where strong movement skills are essential!
The more tools you have, the more opportunities you’ll create for yourself on stage.
What is your sick policy
To keep our cast, crew, and staff healthy, we ask that all students and families follow these guidelines when illness arises:
- Stay Home if Sick – If your child has a fever, vomiting, persistent cough, or any other contagious symptoms, they should stay home until they are symptom-free for at least 24 hours without medication.
- Exposure to Illness – If your child has been exposed to a contagious illness (such as flu, COVID-19, or strep throat), please notify us and follow appropriate health guidelines before returning to class.
- Mild Symptoms? Use Caution – If your child has mild symptoms (such as a runny nose or occasional cough) but feels well enough to participate, we encourage masking and frequent hand washing.
- Missed Classes – We understand that illness happens! We will do our best to provide catch-up materials or notes, but it is also up to the student to contact a cast member to see what they missed and get caught up!
